What A Day!!
Well, what do you say when you have days like this? I found out we have to move (we rent) , so I try to destress a little by making some beads, and what happens? I run out of propane!! Isn't that just life? In between that I had a job interview and fighting siblings(my kids) to deal with. Oh, and I didn't get pics of all my melted glass from yesterday...tomorrow will be a better day.....right?

Kiln Meltdown
So I get a new glass yesterday and it is a "kiln-striking" glass. This means the vivid colors come out when you soak it in the kiln at a certain temp. for a certain amount of time. I set my paragon up and get to soaking...four hours later I come in to check and see blazing light coming from the kiln-needless to say, everything in there was melted to the floor. That SUCKS!! Apparently the thing went haywire and bumped itself up to 1500 degrees!! Kids, check on your kiln more frequently please:) I'll be sure to post beautiful pics manana.

Sorry guys, it's been crazy around here lately and I've had zero time to: A) Get in front of the torch (which has made me very cranky) B) Keep up with the blog:) Rest assured I'll have something more fruitful to say this weekend!

Here I Am!
I wanted to introduce myself! I am Shannon, a Lampwork artist. What is lampwork? It is the melting of glass with a torch and making pieces of art with the glass. In my case, my work is usually beads or pendants. I love the process-watching the glass melt, change color and manipulating it into a bead!
I want this page to be sort of a journal of my day-to-day work, with pictures added as often as possible.
Are you ready?
Let's make beads!
